This was the third year for the Cheap Thrills Show & Swap held in the Asbury Park Convention Hall in Asbury Park, NJ. A building rich in concert and motorcycle history, it was the perfect venue for the annual winter event. Organizers Walter and Dusty have outdone themselves again with a show that has grown each year. Occupying a majority of the main hall walkway, part of the actual beach boardwalk, the chopper show featured a variety of builds from all over the east coast.
Some of these motorcycles I recognized from other local events like the Brooklyn Invitational, some fresh out of a builder’s shop for the show, and many Instagram famous builds that were even better to see in person. The swap was held in the auditorium of the convention hall, famous for hosting concerts by Sabbath, Dylan, and of course, Springsteen.
The swap consisted of a mix of individual builders trying to move parts, chopper focused vendors, and individual artists. The second level of the building featured a cash bar and additional vendors and artists. The “Big Deal” raffle included a First Manufacturing brand custom made leather vest, a Himalayan Heroes bike trip and a custom Harley Davidson 1200 Sportster by Kickstart Cycle Supply. Running for the better part of the day, the show and swap ended with an after party featuring three kick ass bands at a local bar.
If you didn’t make it this year, put it on your calendar for next winter. For more information and updates, follow @cheapthrillsnj on Instagram.
